If the self-regulating pipe cable is insulated, does it still need insulation over the cable?
The IQ PIPE self-regulating cable is itself insulated. In full contact with the pipe, it accurately monitors and replaces heat loss along the length of a pipe. Rigid preformed insulation of a maximum ½” must be placed over the IQ PIPE freeze protection so that the cold surrounding winter temperature does not influence the heating wires sensing technology. Insulation that exceeded the ½” thickness might, in a similar wat, influence the self-regulation feature by causing overheating.
